Using Canva to Change Illustration Colors
Want to customize your illustrations to better match your wedding colors? Canva makes it super simple—even if you don’t have design software. Whether you're updating your wedding website, invitations, or signage, you can easily edit the colors of your SVG files with just a few clicks.
Here’s how to do it:
Step 1: Create a new file
Start by creating a custom-sized design in Canva. We recommend 800 x 800 px for easy editing and high-resolution exports.
Step 2: Upload your SVG file
Drag your SVG file from your illustration pack into the Canva workspace. Once uploaded, drop it into your canvas.
Step 3: Click on the illustration
Select the illustration, then click the color box in the top toolbar. This will reveal all the editable color sections.
Step 4: Change the colors to match your wedding palette
Update the colors however you'd like—whether you're going with soft neutrals, bold tones, or something in between, this is where your style comes through.
Step 5: Export your design
For digital use (like your wedding website, emails, or social media): Export as a PNG file. Canva exports in RGB, which is ideal for screens.
For professional printing (like signage or paper goods): Export as a PDF file. This format is better for maintaining color accuracy when printed.
A Few Tips:
Canva might slightly simplify complex SVG files. If something looks off or you need help, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to help!
Save your wedding palette as a Canva Brand Kit (if you’re using Canva Pro) for easy, consistent edits across multiple illustrations.
And that’s it! A quick and easy way to personalize your illustrations so they feel just right for your big day.
